A bit about me
My 4-yr old daughter makes me think about her future.
Most of my work lies between oil companies, locals, government and 'civil society' in Yemen. I advise oilies on environmental impacts, community affairs. I also work for bilateral donors and development NGO's on revenue transparency - oil companies to government to budget, and the impact of the diesel subsidies on poor people. I'm now looking at the impact of arms spending on education and health budgets. I also push back at the people that seem bent on making a mess. Otherwise I'm fixing the house or playing with my daughter.
My thoughts on the weekend
I work on my own, so to meet a wide range of wonderful like-minded people was a complete priveledge and wholly invigorating. To get a sharp new view on how to present some of the issues that I am passionate about is really useful, and to access expert advice on things that I have sometimes considered but never quite got to grips with... I've come away with some new friends, a little network, some useful technical information.
But above all, THANK YOU - for being you, for caring.
